D&D Extended Test Drive
This is the dry, boring introduction to this campaign. I’m sure that someone else will be along to liven it up shortly.
It all started with some simple goals:
- Have fun.
- Try out this (then) newfangled Dungeons and Dragons Fourth Edition thing.
- Look good while having fun.
- Host a game at my home (so my wife and me can keep an eye on the kids) with some friends (who like the kids and are willing to tolerate kid-related interruptions) while working around the schedules of five busy adults.
- And have fun.
To fulfill those goals, I put together an adventure based loosely on the classic D&D module Keep on the Borderlands. We had fun, learned the system, and kept the kids entertained as well.
Then, the players all turned to me and asked a simple question:
“So, what’s next?”
I responded in my usual, brilliant, fashion:
The quick test drive had taken a life of its own. Everyone was looking forward to what was next. And so, on an irregular schedule, the campaign continues…
